Child seat for NCT

Is it acceptable to leave a child seat in place for the NCT? Its a front facing stage 2 seat that is seat belt secured. It takes a while to get it in place and secure so I would rather not remove it unless I needed too. It is never removed normally.

The NCT manual does mention child seats but just wanted to make sure its ok to leave it in situ.

Its ok as long as it's very secure as they will check it's tightly belted in. Did it for mine recently.

Blazer is spot on, did mine yesterday no issues and many times before. Good luck with the NCT!

I've left the child seat in our car for the last 3 years. They check that the seat is secured and if it's isofix they check the seat belt separate. If the child seat is secured using the seat belt, the they test the child seat and it's proof that the seat belt is also functioning.

I see people in the NCT centre all the time holding car seats etc

Maybe they are afraid that their seat is not mounted correctly and would fail NCT.
It's stupid though, as if it was incorrectly mounted, failing NCT would be the last thing to worry about.

Exactly, it should be left in and if it is incorrectly secured, they will pick up on it. A baby should be secured in a seat that is safe and properly attached. That's not saying that your baby seat is unsafe OP!

It is safe I think. I was more wondering if it should be removed so the tester could check the function of the belt.

It doesn't need to be removed.
I always go to NCT with child seats.
Additionally it will be tested as well during NCT.

It's a free retest for something like that, getting it checked is probably worthwhile.

Got my NCT done with the isofix seat in.

I knew I had secured it correctly but you always have that doubt so having the NCT give it a once over also sets the mind at ease for me anyway.

As advised above it was fine and passed. The tester said they would only fail one that was dangerously loose.

Despite that there were two women in the waiting room with child seats in hand.
