I'm replacing the 18 year old Put-Put-Putterton which does the radiators at my work - it's a 23KW unit.

Given money not an object, could anyone tell me which are the best (in terms of reliability) brands to be buying nowadays? It would have to be something reasonably easy to obtain given the existing units packed up and folk are freezing here

    :)

    I wish I knew. I currently have 3. A Vaillant EcoTec, an Alpha SD24 and a Vokera.

Vokera has given least trouble in 13 years. Alpha....mmm...Vaillant...bigger mmm

Tbh is down to service. - check what's available locally. Vaillant service and parts is virtually non-existant outside of Dublin and Limerick.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I wouldn't be rushing to get rid of a Potterton. Especially an older one 20 / 30 yrs old. They are a great workhorse and seldom gave much trouble.
The agents are Myson in Tallaght for them. You might be better off getting a Myson appointed engineer to take a look at it and advise you if it's serviceable or not.
Boilers today seem to be made for the consumable market with a lifespan of 5 to 10 yrs.

The thought never occurred to me. I would have thought a near 20 year oil boiler at the end of it's life and parts obsolete by now. Worth a phone call. Thanks..!!
