Recently upgraded motherboard(MSI Z87-G43) CPU(i7-4770K)RAM Corsair Dominator 8gb.I bought retail windows 8.1 also.
I had problems installing on my corsair cssd-F120gb2 after a seemingly normal install when windows rebooted it did not boot from hard disc but went back to the disc drive,
I got it installed afterwards but now every time i start the PC i get a screen with "Reboot and select proper boot device" or a blue screen for a split second before restarting again.
I can get into windows after a few goes and when in it works fine.
I have tried changing boot settings in BIOS also default settings, I have updated bios to latest version from MSI site using a flash drive in Bios and have had Bios freeze on me,sometimes some options are missing or rather they are there i can click on them but cannot see them
I have run memtest, downloaded and ran corsair SSD toolbox, checked all connections many times,
also have many instances of this in Event logs in windows
    Event 41 Kernal-power
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
The PC has never crashed while in windows

What else can i check to see if it is the motherboard

I take it the only new hardware is the motherboard so it's probably a faulty motherboard. Send it back to the retailer and get another one. I've never had a crash in the bios in all the years I've messed about with computers. When things go wrong it's usually after I've rebooted after changing my bios settings.
Edit: I think I read your post wrong, you have a new cpu and ram? If you have ruled out ram (try it with only one stick in different slots) it's very unlikely you have a dud cpu. If you have a new ssd it could be faulty.

I've the msi Z87 gd-65 and i find the bios to be flaky from day one.
I get crashes in the bios sometimes too.It happens if i enter the bios when the boot logo from msi pops up but its like the resolution is wrong. If i enter then some off the letters will be jumbled up and hitting any option will freeze it.

Be careful flashing the bios especially since its already a bit flaky.Does your board have a dual bios with a switch on the mobo?

Did you disconnect the psu lead from the wall and take bios battery out to do a full bios reset?
    It can help sometimes.

Another thing to check is if the Ssd's firmware is up to date.

I would think it is the mobo but you need to rule out the other components first before you try to rma it.

Have a look in there. Someone on there might be suffering from the same thing if you search or if you post there I'm sure they'll help you out.

The ssd is not new but I can't find anything to say it's not compatible with win 8.1 firmware is up to date. Only recently bought (from Komplett.dk) the items mentioned .
Many times in bios I cannot see my hard drive listed. It's my first time using UEFI so I'm new to it and have tried legacy mode and default settings but it seems to lose settings next time I'm in there. Also tried the jumper reset and changed battery

Well if its losing setting in the bios/uefi I'd say thats normally the battery but if you changed it,it cant be that.

    I'm set to legacy/uefi.
If you go to Settings/Integrated Peripherals/Sata Mode in the bios what is it set as?
AHCI Mode is the best for SSD's.
Note if you dont set it to AHCI before you install windows it can cause problems if you change it after the install.

Yes checked that, it is set to AHCI mode by default

Bios is gone totally weird now its missing options and going to the wrong options when I select one .I always trusted the bios as being the most stable part of any computer. Thanks for your replies I'm going to send it back.
