one year test on an 04 if it is ten years old. Late model presumably would get two years

....you'd hardly buy a more expensive car in the UK, just to save €50 here ???

Next year the 05 is 10 anyway........

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

If it's the same model car you would be crazy to, it's the same car, could be even built at the same time, no point in buying a poverty spec car for the number plate.

In theory if car is less than 10 years old at the time when it's due NCT (and your car will become due NCT on the day you register it in Ireland) then you should get 2 years test.
That's in theory, and that's what the law says.

But in practice most likely NCT centre will issue you 1 year cert for 04 car.

As law in on your side, you can always go to court against NCT centre, and probably win - but I can't imagine it being worth it.
