Have a squeaking sound coming from the rear of the car, deffo on drivers side and I think also on the passanger side.
It is audible when the stereo is off and window up, and noticeably audible with the window down.
    Im thinking suspension bushes maybe?
Anyone got any ideas as to what it mgiht be?

    Cheers.

If you stand next to car and push each corner down, do you hear the noise?

Not sure, but I will try that thanks.
    What would that tell me?

If there is a squeak then it could be the shocks.
Without hearing the noise it's tricky to guess what it could be.
Does squeak appear only when going over ramps or similar? Or when turning?

To be honest, now your mention turning, it does seem to happen when the wheel is turned.
I will have a listen again on the way home.
    What does that indicate?

It's very difficult to diagnose a problem like that over the internet based on a description of a noise.

It could well be a component of the suspension as a lot of these components can fail from both age or general wear and tear. You really need to get someone to put the car up on a ramp and have a good poke around underneath it.

    Ah I appreciate that completely.
I will do that of course.

An awful lot of Mark V Golfs, A3's, Seat Leons, Skoda Octavias make a noise similar to what you're describing. Go slowly over a speed bump with the window down and see if you hear the creaking/squeaking.

My wife's Polo starts "squeking" after very heavy rain and has done so since new......I just spray silicone lubricant into the front&rear bushes and the noise disappears for six or seven months. Do NOT use WD 40 or such like as this not good for the bushings.

It could be the rear stabilizer bushes. it would be more prevalent on a wet day. Try spraying a silicone lubricant in between the stabilizer and bush itself. Otherwise replace them - fairly cheap and easy to do by any mechanic.
