AIB Android app permissions

The recent update to the AIB app for Android devices adds permissions for the app to read your contacts. I cannot for the life of me come up with a valid reason for AIB to know who my contacts are. I've written them an email, as if that will do any good. Any ideas on why this change was introduced and what might be done to…

The app allows you to easily select a mobile to top up from your contacts. It's a minor feature, handy in some cases, and the only way it could be implemented is by requesting that permission

There was a thread on it here before.

Think it had something to do with a new feature they were bringing out where you could lend money to your friends or something like that.
