Why No Hyundai Genesis Coupe?

Why on earth is this car not available in Ireland?! (or even Europe)

    Front Engine
    Rear Wheel Drive
2.0 Turbo (shares many components with Evo X engine)
    271BHP
    Torsen LSD

If priced right like the rest of the Hyundai range, it would sell like hot cakes!

Typical, we got all the other versions of their crap coupes but when Hyundai finally seem to have gotten it right, we get shafted.

Would take this over an under-powered and over-hyped GT86 any day of the week!

    Right.

As opposed to a GT86 or Veloster.

Guess I'd be on my own wanting to buy a cheap front engine, rwd turbo coupe with lsd

If toyota can sell GT86's, I think Hyundai could shift a couple of these!

I remember a thread on this, probably about 18-24 months ago.
As far as I remember it wasn't very well received on here.

Personally i don't like the look of it or the look of its descendants but you really can't deny the figures.

where did cheap come into it? i see on hyundais USA website the genesis is offered for $35k, which is roughly what a brand new veloster sells for here (€25.5k). can't see a genesis being offered here for less than €40k tbh, which is a lot.

also with a claim of 32mpg extra urban i really can't see it being a hit with the irish.
although it sounds like a good/ interesting car overall imo.

also even though they share the 4b11t engine there are a lot of differences between an evo x 4b11t and hyundai 4b11t. you might be better off taking the engine out of an evo and dropping it into the hyundai if it was posible

Yep. And the coupe is well into production (6 years) at this stage so they'd hardly bother till the next gen comes out.

Even with the Veloster, here we get 184bhp whereas in the US they get a 204bhp version.

Has to be because of poxy tree hugging emissions legislation.

221gkm co2 for the 2.0t Genesis so about €1000 tax pa.

Guess ive answered my own question.

I bet it would sell with an anaemic 1.6i and hubcaps though

Even the 1.6 Veloster isn't selling in big numbers here.

Yes Band F, so tax would be €1200 so I think they wouldn't even consider selling it here.

Figures from here say 220 g/km (unsure if its the latest version)

I looked for figures on the US website but unsurprisingly the yanks don't seem entirely bothered about CO2 over there. It seems the citizens of the EU are being taxed to save the world.
