how much does 1w of electricity cost

    im Trying to compare the cost of running 4 different size fans , without being turned off, over 24hours

    fan sizes:5w, 13 w, 23w , 44w

    anybody know the total cost of 1w for 24hours?

    1w for 24hours would be 24x1/1000 units
    = 0.024 units

    @approx 19c per unit (depends on your supplier etc)

    = 0.456 cent

    1 watt for 24 hours would consume 0.024 of a kWh, that's based on kilowatts (0.001) multiplied by hours (24). Check your last bill to see how much a kWh costs, add 13.5% VAT, multiply by 0.024 and there's your answer.

    My last Bord Gais bill says 16.28c per unit so including VAT that's 18.48c meaning that your 0.024 kWh would cost 0.44c.
