Hi all my mom was admitted to hospital with physical symptoms of a severe headache and vomiting. However the doctors after two days of test have concluded that there is nothing physically wrong with her. Since Sunday when she was admitted her mental state has deteriorated to a state that neither I or our immediate family have ever seen before and to be honest it is absolutely frightening what has happened in the space of a few days. She groans and grunts and is barely talking. As I sit here typing this in the next room I can hear her groaning in her sleep and when she is awake she thinks everything is funny and this is far from her personality as normally she is a very private person who to be honest doesn't have a great sense of humour and rarely laughs. Her memory is fine but she is distant with everyone she speaks with. There is no other mental health problems anywhere in the family on both my dad and my mam's side. The doctors in the hospital just discharged her and said there is nothing they can do for her and to consult our GP. She is currently employed so that is not the issue and she isin't great conveying her feelings to be honest. I rang the GP today to schedule an appointment for tomorrow. We don't have health insurance as of this year because of cost(typical). So PLEASE PLEASE has anybody on hear experienced these symptoms themselves or anyone they know have? We are really stuck and confused at this point, the family on her side are not really understanding of mental health problems and attach stigma to it all be it in a sort of good way, they dont want her condition to be known to members not in the family. Has anybody any advice, anybody at all no matter how small I would greatly appreciate it :) . It's just so scary how a person can change in the blink of an eye :( Thanks for help in advance. John

    Hi jonnymurt33, welcome to Boards.

Unfortunately, threads looking for medical advice aren't allowed on the site. I'd advise you to continue checking with your GP and hospital for help. I hope everything turns out okay with your mother.

    Niall
