I have spent last couple of days searching and looking at possibly hundreds of tights and knickers that would suit the summer but they are all thermal or discontinued.

Anyone know are there summer bibs around?

Most people would use bib shorts and leg warmers, as the day warms up pull off the warmers and stuff them in a pocket.

I guessed that, its not for the warmth in my case. I need the modesty.

Assos do lighter weight bib knickers. Anything below your knees is going to be a bit warm at the height of summer, but these will be fine on cooler summer days

They can justify a bit more than that;)

    ... wouldn't recommend those for mid-summer mind

What's the forum's opinion on bib knickers for men. I bought a pair, wore them, liked them and then my wife questioned my manliness. She said pedal pushers are for girls.

    See the following Euro rule:

    3. You shall NEVER, under any circumstances, wear plain black spandex bibs (shorts, regardless of colour are BANNED) or any team kit containing non-prominent Logo's. Shorts will extend approximately 2/3rds of the way down the upper leg and will contain a compression band at the bottom distinct in colour. In NO CONDITION shall they extend any further!

    Wrong thread.

Hah? If you're worried about looking silly then cycling may not be for you.

Personally I can't wait to get back to shorts. Once the real feel is back in double digits, the knickers will be put away.

I didn't know what "bib knickers" were, so I've learned something new today.

Unfortunately it's to protect fellow cyclists, had a bit of a accident a few years ago and the looks of one of my legs will churn the the stomach of the hardiest of men let alone women.

The above? Alternatively would shorts and knee warmers do the job?

Nobody will care about your leg and you wont do anything if you take "maybe when I'm thinner" attitude. I'm sure I looked real funny when I started (much like below kinda). But I enjoyed it too much to quit so I said **** it.

I have 2 pairs of Castelli lightweight 3/4 lengths. One pair I bought from a US website and they were labelled "Castelli Nero Bib Knickers", the other pair I bought from a UK (ProBikeKit) and they were labelled "Castelli Trio Bib Knickers". They appear to be the same product the stitching is just a little different between them (aesthetic difference only). I like them a lot, they are a similar weight of lycra to regular cycling shorts so they give some protection to your knees without making you overheat.
