LNB Damaged

During the Storm 2 weeks ago A wheelie bin was blown into my back garden and hit My FTA satellite dish which is mounted on a wall about 10 ft high. The LNB Bracket was knocked out of the arm and left dangling by the cable with the LNB still attached. The bracket or LNB had no physical damage and I just inserted the LNB bracket back into the arm and realigned the dish.

I cant receive Transponder 11261 H 27500 since this happened. Initially the reception went poor and then a few days later it went altogether. Could this be an LNB fault? I dont know anything about LNB'S but it would seem strange that a fault could result in the loss of just one Transponder. Or it could be that I have lost more transponders that Im not using. There are alot of other Transponders in the Box menu Lists that have no reception, Im not sure if I have never had reception on these or just since the Storm, I know that some Transponders never had any reception.

The narrow edge around the dish that is at 90 degrees to the face was slightly dented (see pic) but I cant imagine that could cause a problem as the face of the dish has no damage.

    Most probably slightly misaligned.

I dont think so. I tried realigning it while monitoring reception on the TV through the window. No reception at all on 11261H no matter what while perfect reception on others

Try adding a TP with a slightly different frequency, say 11262H. See if it picks it up.

See if what picks it up? The only tuning done in the LNB is the 'block downconversion' of horizontal or vertically polarised signals. The receiver tunes to the TP freq.

    Yes, the receiver of course.

11261H is a Eutelsat 28A TP: these wouldn't be the strongest, certainly compared to Astra 2E & 2F.

Other Eutelsat 28A TPs here: http://www.lyngsat.com/Eutelsat-28A.html

The LNB is probably off SKEW, or by looking at the pic of the dish the shell of the dish might be buckled. Post up a picture of the LNB on the dish. Take the picture standing directly in front of the dish so we can see what position the LNB is in.

    Ok, I'll do that tomorrow

That looks like it's more than just the rim that's damaged.

    Why, What else looks damaged?

Might just be the photo but, it looks like the face of the dish is dented too.

The LNB skew wouldn't be majorly off: you could try adjusting it slightly, try turning it clockwise, while facing the dish.

Another thing, if that LNB is actually intended for the shape of dish used by Sky, it won't be at its best when used on your type of dish.

The face has no damage, Dish & LNB working fine since 2004 until 2 weeks ago

Imagine the dish is a clock, have the bottom of the LNB positioned at 7 o'clock. Unscrew the connecter off at the satellite receiver and place the end of the cable into a mug or cup, Unscrew the cable off at the dish and blow through it to expel any water that might have got into the cable. Then connect it back to the LNB and waterproof it. If all this don't fix your problem and your fully certain that the dish is not Buckled then you'll need to contact an installer who will have a Professional meter that will show the signal level on all 4 of the signals that dish/LNB is receiving

It was the LNB Skew, just turned it about 20 degs clockwise, Thanks to All
