Stair Nosings

    Hi all,

Whilst previously designing stairs for non-dwellings I would ensure that the top and bottom nosings would contrast with the intermediate nosings of a flight and they in turn would be 30 LRV points clear of each other and the rest of the tread/riser.

I would also include for a 55mm nosing on both tread and riser.

While this may be considered good practice and there are provisions in the UK regs, I can't find any definitive requirement in the Irish regs.

Would I be correct in assuming that to comply with the Irish regs that a 50mm nosing is only required on the tread and that all nosings can be the same colour as long as they meet the required LRV requirements?

    Thanks in advance
