Nikon versus Tamron dilemma!

    Hi,
I'm looking for a decent zoom lens for my D5100 and my preference is the Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G VR.
As far as I can see the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC is the cheaper equivalent. The Tamron is in some cases 200 Euros cheaper, but was wondering if this huge price difference actually reflects the difference in quality between each lens.Looking at the reviews for each,I'm not so sure? Can anyone help?
    Thanks.
