With a few screwdrivers and plastic tools, you can replace the screen on your own if you can't get a place to get it fixed.

I'd recommend trying yourself if you have the confidence ifixit.com will have a tutorial, androids are generally easy to fix.

If not a local repair shop would be faster and more convenient than relying on LG

My Nexus 5 screen has smashed.

Phone repair shops are quoting me 150 EUR to fix it.

I can buy a new screen for 64.12 GBP on Amazon.

How easy is a DIY job if I buy a screen? I am not great with DIY / hardware in general. Is someone like that just better going to a phone repair store?

    Thanks.

From this www.etradesupply.com/blog/how-to-repair-nexus-5-cracked-screen/ (can't link properly on phone) it looks pretty simple, there's no glue or anything involved from what a quick glance told me. If you know anyone who has a set of tools you should be fine, if not ETrade sell a decent set for like 15 euro, I'm using it currently.

eBay can be dodgy in regards to screen, I've never had an issue with ETradeSupply, pick DHL and you'll have it in less than a week, but the screen will be €40 extra. You're still saving €60 so your own choice

    Thanks.

I do not have the tools for this. Can you please point me to the direct link, on the ETrade website, for the tools?

Also, will I be hit with customs?

Yeah customs of about €20, and DHL is about €18 that's where I pulled the €40 extra from. You can just pay it to the delivery driver when you're collecting the package AFAIK.

http://www.etradesupply.com/apple-ipad-series-disassembly-tool-kit.html this is the set I have and I've never run into a phone I couldn't open with them, but if you won't be using them often then something like http://www.etradesupply.com/repair-tools-bst-606.html should be just as good!

    Best of luck

Does the above kit include tweezers, Plastic Pry Tool and a Case Opening Tool?

    Thanks again for your help.

There's no tweezers, but I'm sure wife/girlfriend/mother/sister/female friend can loan you one :D You may not even need it if the screwdrivers are magnetic. It doesn't say with that set, but generally they are. It has all the plastic tools you should need, you probably won't need a steel opener.

Make sure you write down the length of the screws or the exact place you took them from when you're tearing it down so you can put it together properly again.

And go for one of the 50-60 euro screens compatible with your Nexus, if you get the glass only, it is extremely difficult to apply correctly.

No problem, glad to be of assistance
