Braces - holes in teeth

    Hi,

I wore braces from age 14 to 18, I am 24 now. I fell as a child and pushed my front few top teeth out. My experience with my orthodontist was awful, I was in agony for weeks after each tightening session and couldn't eat solids for a week or two afterwards. I would tell my orthodontist this and she would brush it off saying I was exaggerating. I always took care of my teeth. I also wore a head brace at night time and a retainer after I got the braces off.

My issue is when I got my braces off, my top 7 teeth in the front had dents/holes in them! It's most noticeable in my two front teeth. When the dentist took the braces off she looked at them and just said "oh.. Well you can always get them fixed later on". My bottom teeth were crooked when they never were before getting braces. I didn't take too much notice then as I was just delighted not to have to deal with that dentist ever again!

My question is it expensive to get the dents filled in? Is it painful? Would it be worth complaining to the HSE all this time later?

Have you seen a dentist for a routine checkup in the 6 years since completing treatment with the orthodontist? If not, this should be your first port of call. They can advice you as to what caused the damage, & the procedure/cost involved in repairing the teeth.

I went to have my teeth cleaned once or twice afterwards but after the experience with the orthodontist it kinda scared me off them. I'll just have to bite the bullet and go :(
