Will my Power Supply work with the ASUS R9 290?

I was planning on upgrading my 7950 to a R9 290 during the summer, and I need to know if my power supply will work, I know it has enough watts, but the 290 is 6+8 pin connectors, and my PSU has 8+8 with 2 detachable connectors.

Ya the card uses 250-300w or so max. The rest of the system maybe 100w. Probably around 350-400w average under load.

That's why I went with a 600w when you told me to go with a 500w. I also love the i5-3570K because of it's power consumption. Chips like the AMD 8350 are monsters in terms of power consumption.

I might just skip the R9 290 or GTX 780 and go with a 780 Ti. The 290x is 484 euro minimum for AMD's crappy cooling, and I don't like the power consumption on that thing. The Asus aftermarket 780 Ti is 579 euro.

These power hungry beasts weren't out then. A 500w would still be fine you just wouldn't be as energy efficient.

You can get a good aftermarket R9 290 for around €380-€400 and overclock it past 290x levels.

I'll either go for the 290 or the 780 Ti, depends on how much money I earn next summer.

Would the Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X work with my 600W PSU? It recommends 750W but I reckon it would use up to about 450W total for my computer.
I'm running 3.4GHz on my intel i5-3570K.

Now that we're on the subject of PSUs, how long do people here use a power supply? I have a Corsair Builder Series V2 600 Watt for three years now and it's just out of warranty. When I upgrade (which will be in the next few months) should I buy a new one, or just stay with what I got until kaput?

Good quality PSU's should last a long long time , I guess it depends on the loads the system operates under , the problem i can see happening is that fan clogging up or not being as efficient , the PSU heats up and blows that way.

I've been using a Corsair hx-620w psu for about 6-7 years now through 3 builds and it's still going strong.

It won't be getting replaced unless it blows or I need more power.
