Kitchen mixer tap problem

Hi guys, i have a mixer tap in the kitchen and I think the threads on the cold side have stripped - I can't turn off the flow fully at this stage, and when i turn it closed past a certain point it resets to an open position/flow. The tap doesn't stop at a closed position. :(

Seems a pretty standard tap with hot and cold taps at 45 deg each side of a swivelling outlet.

Do I need to get a new tap or is this a simpler issue?

    Thanks.

Replace washer with a new thicker washer, even use a small brass washer between rubber washer and tap handle part sometimes helps.
Your taps are worn and on their last legs though.
Or you can buy "adaptatap" handle part that are universal, most of the time !!
To replace worn guts of the tap.

Ended up getting new guts / headgear. Nice easy job in the end!
