Once you import them, then yes. Plus if you are bringing them back yourself you need to find and notify the ferry company/airline that you use that you are carrying live ammo.

Do you mind me asking why you are doing this or want to? Is it a particular brand you're after.

Yes I am looking for a particular brand and you said" once you import them" does this mean I must be an RDF

No. Not at all.

You can do a personal import as an individual by applying for an import license by using this form and then you may need a visitor's pass for the UK. I say may as i'm not sure how shotgun cartridges are classed as over there. I know up the North some ammo can be bought if it's target. Nothing expanding. However i've no idea about cartridges as i've never bought or imported cartridges.
