I'd like to get myself back into sport again and I want to do it properly. What kind of diet would an athlete have? How many calories, what level of protein carbs etc?

    Be more specific..
    What sport?
What level do you aim to compete at?
What do you want to achieve from playing a sport?
    Impossible to answer otherwise

I'd love to do the skeleton event in the Winter Olympics

Well, I don't know who is the governing body for Skeleton in Ireland, or even if we have one, but...

You could do worse than contacting http://www.britishskeleton.co.uk/

The Chair of that body is one Lord Clifton Hugh Lancelot de Verdon Wrottesley, 6th Baron Wrottesley.

If you're young (and it sounds like you might be) then that name might not mean much to you. However, he competed in the skeleton for Ireland in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He finished fourth, missing out on a medal by 0.42 of a second and still Ireland's best performance in any Winter Olympics.

So, even if they can't help you, they should be able to tell you who can.
