    I'm in need of new glasses and it's about 8 years since I've bought in Ireland. Just wondering if it's still stupidly expensive to get decent lenses/frames? I don't really want to spend much more than 200, and would need an eye test too.

    I'm in Dublin City Centre, can anyone recommend anywhere? Or is it best to go online these days?

    Just go online. I found Irish Opticians no matter who you use to be total *****. I was on a contract lens trial with a particular UK chain found in every town in Ireland. I phoned up to say I was not happy with the lens and could they order me in another set of trials as I didnt find any of them to be comfortable. I got a rant from some shop assistant of how I was wasting their time and that I only to get one set of lenses and that I never going to get another free pair.

    I brought my Ray Ban glasses with prescription from visiondirect.ie for only €100 including shipping. They are perfect half the price of buying them instore in Ireland. I choose to buy glasses online as most opticians have a horrible range in Ireland.

    Thanks for that.

    Got my prescription today and have just ordered 2 pairs off Zenni Optical for €60 incl delivery, happy days! Hopefully I won't be disappointed but from reading online they seem to be quite good.
