    Hi all,
as mentioned in a previous post Im the only one in the house who drinks wine and I'm only starting to get in to it. Because white wine gives me heart burn ive been told to look towards softer reds as listed in the title. Im looking for recommendations to get in or around 10-20euro a bottle (am I going to get anything decent at this price?). This weekend I made the mistake of going for a merlot from Aldi that was a chilean 2012 for under a fiver... it's brutal. So from next weekend im hoping to start finding stuff that I can start enjoying and maybe even regularly buy.
    Thanks in advance

I live in Sydney, but was recently home, tesco have some decent Australian Shiraz (barossa and hunter are great for Shiraz) tesco have a Mount pleasant Maurice O'Shea for 25 which retails for nearly double in Australia.
Lidl have some good French wine for just under 20, I think saint-emillion it was it grand-cru or grand-cru classe, I found it was excellent.

Good wine doesn't mean expensive. You can pick up some good wine for 10ish, a good wine retailer should be able to help you.

Not sure where you're based but check in with your local independent wine merchant and s/he can point you in the direction of softer styles; the grapes you mention are good suggestions. You can get drinkable stuff at €10, especially if it's on a genuine promotion, but you start to see some real quality once you move in to the €15+ range. If your budget is €10-€20 you should have no problem getting some great vino. Good luck!
