So i am thinking of doing my thesis on post Celtic Tiger Ireland as seen through the eyes of Irish writers. I'd really appreciate some recommendations.

Ross O'Carroll-Kelly novels are an obvious choice for popular fiction, they span all the rise and the crash (2000-2013)

Donal Ryan "The Spinning Heart" is a wonderful read which charts the trials and tribulations of a town through monologues of the various inhabitants. In terms of form it is a different although plenty could be written still if the thesis is an undergraduate one. Thematically there is plenty to get through as a lot of the stories are taken from real happenings.

There are a couple of crime titles that would alos fit the bill. Broken Harbour by Tana French is good, the crime in question takes place in a post-tiger semi-ghost estate. The Rage by Gene Kerrigan is another one that might be useful.

Yes, crime fiction is a good idea. I thought the Tana French was quite limited but you get a lot of good social history in the Moss Reid detective series by Mel Healy. I read the first book which was set in summer 2013, and I downloaded the free sample chapters of the second, it covers everything from JobBridge to the top-ups scandals. Google "Another Case in Cowtown".
