Groupon deal for Protein shakes

    Hey guys,

I just saw on Groupon that there is an offer for ''Matrix Elite Complete All-in-One Protein Powder''

    Details:

    Chocolate/Strawberry flavour
60g of multi-stage release proteins per 100g powder
    2.5g HMB per 100g
7.5g pure Creatine Monohydrate and L-Glutamine per 100g
    Over 4g MCT's and EFA's per 100g

    Prices:

    €39.99 for 2.25kg tub
    or
    €54.99 for 4kg tub

Any opinions on this? Is Matrix a good brand protein? I'm currently taking ''Precision Engineered'' whey protein from Holland & Barrett (only because it was half price at the time! but seems to do the job!).

You can get 1 kg of creatine and 5kg of 80% protein from any of the websites, myprotein, bulkpowders, etc at any time of the year for about €60. So I wouldn't be bothered if I missed that Groupon.

Bear in mind that groupon usually take 50% of the voucher cost. So if a restaurant is doing a €20 voucher for €10, they are actually only getting €5.

Some services are more suited to it, where if the place is not busy they are just loosing money, this is why you have so many beauty treatment type things or massages on it, staff would be paid either way and the cost of materials is minimal.

The trick with items like this is that many are not aware of "the going rate" and so believe the claimed discount of 50% or so, as they might compare it only to already overpriced shops, like holland & barret.

it's 25% carbs, anyone care to wager how much of that is pure sugar?

Exactly as other lads say - shop around online, check prices and most of all don't always look at brand only on nutrition facts labels. Majority of companies sell the same stuff especially if you look at proteins market. Furthermore "normal" people don't need the high tech stuff to see the difference in the gym. Basic stuff will do. It is different if you go pro, but hardly anybody does it.
