How do they know which tag is gone. If an individual was economical with the truth could they not get a replacement for a conventional tag.

It had been highlighted last year some where and I needed to order missing tags so I mentioned it when ordering tags in December but the girl on the phone said that I needed to sent in the broken tags for a free replacement. There is clearly a problem with them but of course the farmer will be caught again:mad: (how the fcuk would I find broken tags in a slatted tank)

Rang Mullinahone last year ordering replacement tags and just mentioned that a calf had lost it's BVD tag. She told me that if I sent it in for analysis I would be issued with a new one, that's grand I said but it's somewhere in the middle of a 10 acre field, and if she was free Saturday she was more than welcome to come and help look for it because I sure as hell wasn't going to bother my arse wasting time, I would be more than happy to pay for the replacement as that was the 'cheaper' option.

She felt sorry for me and sent it on anyway!!

    That answers my question then.
Would you not empty the tank with some kind of sieve to stop the tag being sucked up and then risk your life going into the empty tank to find the tags.
Alternatively you could maybe take a picture of the conventional tag still in the animals ear and send that in an email. The only problem with the second plan is it's not likely to be accepted by mullinahone. It would make it too easy to claim the replacement. If you want a freebie you have to earn it.

I rang a couple of days ago to order 5/6 replacements that were all genuinely last years Bvd tags and before I got to say it she told me they were free of charge. Happy days. Only for seeing these posts I would have ordered them online and been charged full whack. Thanks!

Rang up today. 12 heifers missinfmg tags from last year.
If I didn't get them now they would surely loose the others and I'd be well fcuked
