    Hi all,

the key fob on my 2005 VW Golf has stopped working. I can still lock and unlock the doors with the key, but the zapper seems to have died.

Not sure how it works exactly, but I would imagine it has some kind of battery, is it possible to get this replaced or do i have to get a new key fob?

    Thanks

    New battery should do it.

Annoying. My fobs on my car will unlock but won't remotely lock. Major pita

Shows you how to remove the battery in the link. The 2032 or the equivalent on your battery is the important bit. You can get them in maplin or somewhere like that.

You don't need a screwdriver as that video suggests, the two parts just pull apart if you grip both ends and pull. And then same again for the top and bottom parts.

skip to 2:48 for the MkV key fob ;)
