Can I cancel VODAFONE New Package

We recently upgraded our Vodafone broadband and phone package, in the hope of getting better broadband speed (up to 24mbs or whatever my line can handle according the the line test thing on their website), was not expecting to get 24mbs but was hoping to get maybe 17 (10-12 would even have been nice).

Rang up sales, got them to upgrade our package, new modem received (with 18mth contract) and set up, speed upgraded a few days later and was getting 12-13mbs. Happy Days.

Watching RTE player the other evening...buffering...........buffering...........buffering.............checked speedtest.net. Result was 1.04mbs (this was approx 10pm), so checked the next few evenings with similar results.

Before I upgraded I was getting 5-6mbs at all times, but this 1mbs is a waste of time. The young fella plays (used to play?) PS4 online, but it is unplayable at that speed.

Apparently this is not an unusual occurrence with Vodafone and they can just put it down to congestion etc. which is of no use to me, so can I cancel my contract with them because the service is of no use.

Apparently it will take 3 days to get a reply to an email to their customer services/support or I can spend an evening on hold to their call centre in the hope of getting an answer.

Your exchange hasnt changed so its not congestion. That would effect both equally(in 95% of cases anyways).

Whats likely happened is theyve pushed the line too far. Your noise margins are ok during the day and you get the speed advertised but at night when more users are on the lines crosstalk increases and your signal degrades and slows down (if they looked the the DSLAM would see a high error rate).

Call vodafone support, ask them to profile you down to 9Mb and test like that for a week.

Yep, started a thread there yesterday, but they have an 85hrs response time and going by the other threads on there, they don't seem to be in much of a hurry to get anything sorted.

A vodafone representative appears to have shown up on the Talk To Vodafone forum, at approximately 12.11 today, picked a thread to answer (not mine!) and has not been seen since.

I changed from Eircom to Vodafone, I will cancel my standing order and go back to eircom if they dont speed up my line, it has gone from 1.76mb/s to around .989 mb/s and sometimes lower, it is very frustrating, I told them what i needed, but think I will be contacting ofcom and lodging a complaint for a refund.

I'm about to take the cancellation route myself, after my broadband has been going from bad to worse.

Considering that the stats on this forum now show a response time of 229 hours and a response rate of 18%, I'm having the feeling that Vodafone are just giving up on monitoring it.
