    19 FEBRUARY 2014
A dramatic garda chase of a stolen van ended in chaotic scenes on the streets of Dublin with three people injured and up to 10 cars damaged.
A stolen Eircom van caused a trail of destruction before losing a front wheel and smashing into a wall in the main street of Ranelagh village.
The Eircom van had been taken at St Stephen’s Green just before 10pm and was pursued by garda patrol cars and the garda helicopter.
One man was trapped in his Mercedes car when the speeding van rammed his car into a wall as it bounced off a line of cars and caused oncoming cars to crash.
A fleet of ambulances rushed to the scene and three people, one seriously injured, were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.

Seriously? I wonder what was their purpose of stealing van

People were shocked at the sight of an EIrcom van moving at high speed.

I am not surprised at all that there was a crash in ranelagh.

I am sick of reporting dangerous parking.

people are parking on both sides where the road is not wide enough and very lucky there was no cyclist on the road at that time as they would be out very far overtaking the parked cars.

If you know the village and drive through it after 7pm you will understand what I mean. Report to the council if you have the time.

Also where there are double yellow lines taxis park and they also park in the bus stop.

Glad nobody died as a result of the thugs.

They'll be out later today, free to do what they want before a rap over the knuckles - should be 10 years hard labour. No mercy. If a child had been run over by these morons, then what?

Pretty sure the parking wasn't at fault last night.

The equipment that's in it, such as tools and possible cabling.

I always question the logic of high speed chases, surely it poses more of a danger to the public?

First they came for the socialists...

Lol this has nothing to do with parking. Did you read the OP at all?

Don't get it either, not worth the risk for what is in reality a piece of metal.

Someone steals a van so just let them drive away with it?

    +1.

It could be a kidnapping or someone escaping after committing a murder.

Why would kids be out at 10 o'clock. On a school night.

No but surely a judgement call should be made between material value and endangerment to the public.

These judgement calls are made every day of the week.

That's why you don't see that many high speed chases in built up areas.

Well, some kids who live in the area and kids all over the country are having their mid-term breaks now.

What a horrible incident to go through. I hope anyone of the casualties who was involved in the crash are doing well in hospital.
