We have had Sky with years and years.
It's a decent service that will cost us €36 per month from March onwards.

We have been considering getting rid but the only thing that's is stopping us that our kids absolutely love it for the documentaries, history channel, national geographic, Eden. Basically most of the 500 channels on sky.

Are there other services that we can access these channels through? We don't mind the initial set up fee, but would prefer to remove the monthly fee.

We have a disconnected sky box for our other tv that also has rte tv3 etc and this would be adequate but for the lack of these specific channels?

    Anyone suggestions for us.

    Thanks

Without a monthly fee, you're having a giraffe right?

It's a legitimate question is it not?

I've asked for suggestions and options. Any and all are appreciated.

The answer is none, remove the Sky card from your Sky box and that is what you can get for free, if you have an aerial you can get Irish channels for free with a Saorview box/TV

We have that set-up already, but it doesn't give the group of channels that we need that the kids want, so we have a second tv with sky for them. The only reason we have the subscription on this tv is for this reason.
Are these types of channels available via another box we can buy as a once off?

I'm afraid not, they are paid channels.

The children can surely survive without the rubbish showing on those channels. They have really gone to the dogs over the years.

It's mainly the nature, history and science docs they watch. They have zero interest in storage wars or anything like it thankfully. I'd love if there were equivalent channels elsewhere.

    ^^^

Did you try and get a new deal? I managed to get €7 per month off ours and €50 credit to the account.
Or cancel and they'll come back calling by all accounts....
