So yeah I deleted most of my media while setting it up to be backup up weekly I deserve a medal for stupidity. When it happened I ran disk cleanup but nothing was deleted on the drive its my D drive. Once I copped it I removed write access to the drive from me and the system. The folder itself was laid out perfectly with many many sub-folders etc so i'd know its structure from a mile away.

I assume it never went to the bin since is so big. I cant seem to find it with recuva i'd like to try get it all back in its original layout if possible.

    Try http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
I messed up a whole partition before and it fixed it all.
Do you have somewhere to recover to?

You made the correct first step. Not writing to the drive. The next step is finding a good undelete tool. Chances are that your files are still there but only the FAT was wiped.

Download Undelete Plus or similar. Donp't do this on your fupped computer. Use a different one if you can. When downloaded, put it on your USB Drive. If you don'pt have one, get one. They are cheap.

Put USB Drive into fupped computer and run it. See what it can find.

Did you do a full scan with Recuva? It should take hours on a 2TB drive.

There's no point in running 2 scans at once, it'll just take longer than each one individually.

NO point in running to recovery programs at once,
i used recuva to recover 14 gig drive,
    sd card formatted .
it got about 90 per cent files back.
    MOSTLY podcast mp3 files.it
    shows all the files ,folders,
    folder layout.directory s etc
TOOK about 50 mins to deep scan 14 gig card ,
with 11 gig of data on it.

i hear this is a good free program.

using recuva i took pics of the deep scan results ,
SO i could at least have a list of all the files.
and replace the ones that were deemed,
    low quality,.overwritten.
IF i choose to do so.

IT LISTED all the files on the card,
even ones deemed to be unrecoverable.

    I formatted the card,
    sdmicro card,
and then used recuva on it .
as it just showed up as drive not formatted in my computer.

i,m not saying you should format the drive again.

    i tried testdisk ,
but its not as easy to use as recuva.
Doesnt have a simple ,easy to use menu.
in theory all the files are still there ,
if you simply deleted the folders ,or data ,
as long as they were not overwritten .
