Tax Technician Qualification - Worth it?

A bit of background - I have a 2.1 degree in Pharmacy and have five years experience working as a pharmacist. It's not for me, and I'm currently studying for the Accounting Technician qualification while working. I've discovered that I really love tax, strange as that may seem, and I'm contemplating doing the Tax Technician qualification over the summer while I'm on a break from the ATI. Do you think it's worth my while, and more impotantly my €2k?

The reason I went the technician route is I have zero experience - didn't know anything about business/finance/accounting/tax, wondering if the tax tech would help my job prospects?

If u enjoy tax then its probably the cheapest way to a get a tax qualification in less than 12 mths. It can only add to your cv. I did it last year but I work in tax so for me it was a no brainer.

Hiya, well I went ahead with it, as you said the course started last week. I have all my books etc but am not actually starting it until after my accounting tech exams so can't tell you anything about it!

Ah I see did you go with the tax technician course?
I am debating on whether to just go ahead and do it?
You mentioned you got your books already , does it look like there's a lot involved?
    Thanks for replying.

Yep went with the tax tech course... Being honest I opened the books, saw the four books for the different subjects and put it away. I haven't even opened one! Sorry

Hi. I am thinking of doing this course. Wondering how you got one.

I did the course, did really well in all the exams and got the qualification. I then got a job in a top 10 firm, doing the tax tech qualification in my own time and the good results I got in it did seem to impress the partner who interviewed me and I feel it definitely was a considerable part of his decision to hire me.

However I then found out I was pregnant so stuck with pharmacy because I could dictate my own hours and earn what I needed to earn while working part time
