Was on a US Airways flight form North Carolina to Dublin last year, and didn't think I would see terra firma ever again. Worst turbulence I have ever experienced, and there was constant lightening. Didn't think pilots could fly through such storms, and seemed very risky to me. Kids crying everywhere, and my heart was in my mouth.
Things did settle eventually, but was I glad to see Dublin Airport.

Sometimes there isn't any choice. The aircraft are designed to take a lot of punishment. Moral of the story - keep your seatbelt on tight all the time except to go to the toilet. Also, loose seatbelts can cause more injury then no seatbelts in an aircraft.

Don't know why people don't leave them on, it should be compulsory. Like where are you going to go?!!

First they came for the socialists...

I was on a flight like that once the plane started going mental as soon as "Don't Fear the Reaper" came on my player. There were people screaming all over the place but I was quite happy. I just selected songs that went with the craziness. I was even laughing a bit too which made the woman beside me more nervous

I had no control over the situation so no point panicking. Actually was a bit of fun

coming back from america before there was very light trubalance then all of a sudden the plane must have dropped a few hundred feet. got to experience about 0.5 -1 second of weightlessness. just enough to lift you out of your seat but no heads hitting roofs. good thing there was no food being served

Back in 2000 I was on a flight to Gran Canaria, the plane just dropped suddenly and a load of people flew into the roof.

Luckily I was strapped, worst that happened was I spilled my beer everywhere.

There was a dude screaming in the toilet.
