Best diesel for car

    Hi all,
Just a question on the best quality car diesel to use, or is there any real difference in the brand names. I have always been using Topaz and switched to Apple Green at the weekend, to avail of their loyalty scheme. I don't know if I am imagining this, but I just think the car seems to be missing the slightest of seconds in 1st and 2nd gear. To 99% of drivers, they'd never notice, but to the eager drivers here they likely would. Its a seat leon mk1 if that makes any difference. Any folk any other experience?

When I was driving a diesel I found the car ran noticeably worse on apple green diesel. Less km's per tankful and a lot more smoke. It was an 07 Octavia.

There are different qualities of diesel on sale. Of course there is still the laundered stuff around and recently a garage in Limerick was fined and closed for a few days because of this. My mechanic advises me to use TOPAZ or Shell.

Topaz or esso is what I was told was some of the better fuels to use by someone who tests diesel in labs. But even ignoring that I always get the best mpg out of topaz or esso. All though I'm sure there is other brands that are good it's just I'm in the habit of buying them brands. It's the dodgy places selling washed diesel you have to avoid.

If you use main garages there is a much higher resupply and less chance of bad diesel than in a countryside garage on a back road in Armagh.

Legitimately it all comes from the same refinery in Whitegate in Cork, however some of the different brands add their own additives to claim improvements over their rival brands.

living out in the sticks :o not much choice only great gas and maxol

don't see much difference unloaded, but with a heavy trailer on my jeep seems to have better torque and return better mpg on great gas

Marketing claims left aside, mine seems to run a lot happier on Topaz.

Applegreen has a noticeable negative affect on running and mpg.
