RIP Dave Sunderland – coach to dozens of international athletes and long time supporter of the BMC. Most recently he coached Lynsey Sharp to European gold in 2012. Very Very Sad, Great Man Great Coach.

During my teens, Dave had a major input into my training. I attended several UK Midland training weekends, which Dave hosted. He often sent me schedules and he was a major reason for me jumping from 4:25(1500m) to 3:57 over a six month period. One of the great things he introduced to running in the early 80's was a variation on Cuban boxing circuits - he picked these up from Alberto Juantorena. These type of circuits have since been adapted by Canova and Magness and Johnson.

Very sad news. A great man who had time for everybody.
