What has been the best day of your life so far?

I wouldn't normally start threads, but had a quick search for a thread like this and couldn't find one. Basically, what has been the best day of your life so far, and why? What did it feel like?

I'm still only a young one, not even finished college yet, so for me there aren't any stand out days like getting married or having a child etc. But to date, I would probably say the last day at my first Electric Picnic was pretty special. I went with a very random crowd who I wouldn't usually hang around with, but over the course of the weekend I ran into a lot of old friends who then decided to camp with us and made a lot of great new friends in the process, saw some great live music and danced my socks off all weekend, it was also one of my first experiences with drugs, which undoubtedly multiplied the feeling at the time. By the end of the final night it was a special feeling looking around at all these people, it felt like pure happiness - something I will never forget.

Mine is quite boring and insignificant, but I'm interested in hearing everyone elses if anyone would care to share!

Cant say that anything comes to mind when I think about it. So there's either been too many great days to pick a best one or its all been an unmemorable pile of shíte. Depending on how you look at it.

Just after my last leaving cert exam was a pretty special day. On the way home from school after the exam, me and my mate dawdled. It was a beautiful June afternoon and it was so quiet. We just sat on a wall in the sun and didn't say a word. He sparked up a cigarette and handed it to me for a drag. Took a drag and gave it back to him. About 30 seconds passed as we were just looking around at the sunny day then he just looked at me and said "Fcukin' magic eh?" and I replied "yep...fcukin' magic!". Then he said "Go home and see your ma, get changed then come round my gaff. The oul lad has set aside a few bottles of beer for us!"

Not quite a full day but a very special and memorable moment.

I was 5 points short of the university course that I wanted to do. I went back to repeat 6th year. Didn't get 2nd round offer either. About 2 weeks into 6th (7th!) year, I was called into the headmaster's office out of the blue. He told me that the points had dropped by 10 for the third round, and I got the last place on the course that I wanted to do.

I started college the next day.

The day I got laughing gas at the dentist for the first time. I remember time slowed down, everyones voices in the room sounded far away and echoey. I felt a feeling of relaxtion that I didn't think was possible, there was a lovely warm feeling throughout my whole body. At that moment nothing else mattered in the world. All my problems and troubles were instantly forgotten. I found myself focusing intensely on various items in the room. As I breathed in more and more I felt like I was floating in the room and looking down on everything. It was such an incredible buzz, what I would give to have that feeling again, I never felt as good as I felt that day. Subsequent times I had laughing gas were good too but never quite like the first time, and the more I received it the less effect it had. If a doctor every tells me I have 2 months to live or something I think I will try heroin in an attempt to experience the type of buzz I had that time.

I'm not sure. The kids births were great and all, especially the last one, but I bloody hate waiting around in hospitals and having to keep running out to renew the damn parking so all in all they were pretty **** days.

The wedding day was good. We were staying in Vegas and got a white limo to the airport, private helicopter to the bottom of the grand canyon where we got married, limo back to the hotel then went to the Bodies and Titanic exhibitions before dinner at the top of the Stratosphere.

I'm 23, so the simple answer is - my best days are yet to come. I've only just flown the coop and started living.

Thus far, basking in a tropical ocean for the first time under a gorgeously warm sun on a picture perfect beach rates highly in my book for absolute giddy joy.

My eldest son being born. That moment when I held him for the first time will never be surpassed. The pure joy of unconditional love and realising that this little boy was mine was mind blowing.

He is now 19 and there is not a day when I feel blessed to know he is mine.

His brother being born was the 2nd best day of my life and only 2nd coz I nearly died that time.

The 3rd best day was divorcing their toe rag useless git of a dad. But if had not married him would not have had 2nd kid so the 4th best day was my wedding.

Solo cycle touring in Africa. Long long day on a dirt road that threw up a cloud of red dust everytime a vehicle passed me.

Pottering along by a big river I decided to pull in off the road, maybe 200m cycle down to the river bank down the embankment behind bushes. No way of being discovered. Made camp, swam/ate/read in the afternoon sun. Out of all my days on the road/life that stands out as one of the nicest. Simple but perfect.

Finally starting to be a few proper answers now! Interesting to read. Does anyone who has kids or got married feel a pressure to say those days were the best? Also happy that nobody has said "the day Man United won the champions league", really don't understand how someone could rank that as the best day of their lives when they have no real attachment with it.

Best day was the day my daughter was born, an instant best friend and a love that literally swells your heart.
Second best day was finishing the Dublin city marathon in 2009, meeting my hubbie at the finish line and sharing that natural high and exhilaration after all the long months of training. I hope one day to get round to number 2 and pray that feeling returns.

I don't know. I was thinking of a few really good days recently but I know for at least one of them I was stuck in traffic for a while and on another I got locked into a toilet. Can I stick the best bits of a few days together and make a sort of best of compilation?

It's not as good the second time round, if only because you've a;ready done it.

Until you cross the line first time round, you still doubt if you have the capacity for 26.2 miles. :)
