Hi, I'm building a PC for a friend and we have a strict 800 budget because we will need to pick up a mouse and keyboard (and possibly windows).

SO where can I save about 50 euro on this build without cutting too many corners? Open the pic to see it laid out better.

Get the 4570 instead of the 4670. knocks about 20 off the price in one go and you won't notice a difference in games. Either way, you're not going to be overclocking with a H- series mobo and a non-K cpu.

You can get RAM for about 66 instead of 75, makes up the next tenner.

If you're not aiming for SLI at some point, switch the PSU for Corsair's CX430. Save another tenner.

ASRock H87 Pro4 instead of AsRock Performance will save another 20.

Total of 60 in savings there, or 40 in savings if you want to keep the 4670.

Sounds good, thanks for the input!
I think I'll stick with the same CPU. Def open to changing ram, any recommendations? Looks like RAM is still quite expensive. Will change the PSU.

I was actually thinking of getting the ASROCK pro 4. I have no idea what i'm even loosing by getting the pro 4 instead of the performance.

You were already looking at G.Skill, so just get the same brand basic one without a flashy heatsink on it. single stick, 8GB, €66 on HWVS

Cheers, one question, I always thought it was etter to get 2 sticks of RAM to run in parallel than get a single stick.

It is, but you won't see a huge difference from it. It's simply an option to save money and if you ever decide to upgrade to 16, you won't fill all the slots, allowing an eventual upgrade to 32 a few more years down the road.

Buy it through geizhals.de too. By doing that on this build you would save €35. Google 'coupon code hardwareversand.de' for about €5-10 off too. (not sure I choose the correct ram, couldn't see that one)

You could go for a cheaper case too, a Bitfenix Merc Alpha/Beta would do the job and knock nearly another €30 off.

    Fatal1ty Performance vs Pro4:
    -AMD CrossFire: Y vs N
    -Nvidia SLI*: N vs N
    -Purity sound**: Y vs N
    -HDMI: 4096 vs 1920
    -HDMI in: Y vs N
    -Power Phase: 8 vs 4
    -Bios backup: Y vs N
    -Rear IO USB2: 3 vs 2
    -Rear IO USB3: 4 vs 4

    * You're getting a video card based on the Nvidia chipset. Both motherboards will not be able to drive two Nvidia video cards together. But if you get AMD chipset video cards, you can drive two cards together on the Performance board.

    ** Means better audio output.

    tldr:
By getting Pro4, you get bog standard sound, HDMI out, no AMD CrossFire.

By getting Fatal1ty Performance, you get better sound and more sound ports, HDMI in & out, AMD CrossFire, better power management (OC), bios backup.

If you want to save a bit more, you could "down-grade" the video card.
Stepping down to a GTX 660, you could shave off another €40-60.

Power management isn't really an issue as none of the parts he's buying are unlocked for any decent overclock to begin with.

All sounds great, I think a change of case would save the cash too. As for the Fatal1ty Performance vs Pro4: "-HDMI: 1920 vs 4096" Does that mean I'm limited to standard HD output and won;t we able to go for higher res in the future? A 660 is a good choice too (it's the one I have in my own pc), and on adverts every week or so.

Also Jet black maybe i'm an idiot but how come all the component prices on your build are like 5% lower than mine? Is it because of the coupon you mentioned?

He used the discount site and selected parts at hawareversand. Read his post again.

Ok, sorry I thought that's what I read but I never came across anything like that before. I'll try it out later ans see if it works for me.

Ha no need for apologies here. Yeah should work no problem. Just ask back later if you get confused.

re HDMI specs - apologies for transposing the numbers. Fatal1ty has 4096 and Pro4 has 1920.

4K TV/monitors cost a fortune at the moment. You might be able to buy one at a reasonable price in 3-5 years ...

If you went for the Pro4, you can buy a video card, at a later date, that can output 4k when you get a tv/monitor that has a 4k resolution.
