Vaccinations for Central & South America - Safe to do in Mexico?

Hey, so I'm going travelling (backpacking) through Central and South America for 3 months quite soon. I'm trying to do my research on the inoculations, i.e. what I need, how far in advance, cost etc. and have hit a bit of a wall.

We are starting our trip in a nice city in Mexico which we are staying for 10-14 days. I'm currently living in a ski resort in Canada and the only clinic that offers the vaccinations is very expensive (something like $150 per shot).

So I was wondering if it's safe/advisable to try get the shots done in Mexico (Guadalajara)? Would it be leaving it too late? Are certain shots that I should just pay the extra money for here?

    Thanks
