    Hello all,
I have been out of Ireland for six years and I just lost my job, so I have to go home, does anyone know if I can get a social welfare payment to get me started back home?,
I don't have a supporting Family so I need a roof over my head also, where will I go to get help in Ireland or is there a phone number or service that could help me, as I don't want to be homeless when I arrive home.. Any help would be appreciated

If you have enough stamps you should be OK.

Moving from After Hours. The charter from State Benefits now applies. Good luck OP, I hope you find some answers here.

I did work for about 4 years before I left Ireland, do you think I earned enough stamps?

No you don't have enough stamps.
In a nutshell, you are going to have a terrible fight on your hands to get a payment.
Are you not entitled to social welfare where you are?

You could be waiting a hell of a long time fora payment, like 12 weeks plus.

Also if you do come home, get a folder and keep all the documents relating to the move in it, ie notice that your lease has expired etc , letter from work saying you have left, letter from bank saying account closed, the social welfare will ask for all these items.

If you are in UK and you are entitled to Benefit there , you will be able to transfer that Benefit here once you've been on it for a month.
But you'll have to do all the transferring yourself in the UK before you leave.
    Covers all EEA actually.
