Online parts price scam?

Ok, this is just a small low price example but could add up in the long run.

    Part ordered
Gates Thermostat TH26590G1 Price Paid to online shop €23
    Part received
Gates Thermostat TH0069G1 Price quoted online shop €9

    Part ordered
QH Thermostat QTH578K Price Paid to online shop €22
    Part received
QH Thermostat QTH316K Price quoted online shop €10

The parts received are near identical to the part ordered and fitted when installed. The parts were ordered using the car reg so the cheaper part option did not show on the screen.
I'm not going to name the shop and the prices have been rounded to the nearest euro so as not to make it completely obvious.
Any one else notice this when ordering parts?

I've noticed that when buying non-branded parts I get same quality* for less price.

*don't go buying the first thing you see on ebay, research pays.

You're comparing Gates to QH. That's like comparing chocolate to excrement

Comparing qh with qh, just got a different cheaper but compatible part that he could have ordered cheaper on the same site had he put a different model of car in.

Nope - it wasn't ebay. Irish based online. Bought off ebay in the past and never had an issue.

Even putting he QH bit in makes it obvious who this is. Haha.

I've used that site once for a temp sensor on my old car, have never used them since as they only generally supply mediocre to bad stuff that I wouldn't put in my current car, not to mention the prices aren't cheap for what you're buying.

Send the parts back and request the parts you ordered or a refund for the difference in price. What they're doing is wrong, they'll say the ordered part is out of stock and they're sending an equivalent item, which is fine so long as they're charging the correct price for it.

I'm guessing the company is a males name.

The buzz I got round here was that the blueprint stuff was good. Qh not so much...

Just so I'm 100% clear. For the first part you paid 23 euro for the part and received a part that the website is selling for 9 euro?

If so I'd demand a refund of the difference, or to return it at their cost.

Even if they are willing I'd still call what they did a scam.

Did you get on to them?

The first one was a few months ago and the second was recently but the parts were fitted before I checked. I still had the boxes and for some reason (boredom :-) ) just checked them. I'll be more careful in future and just wanted highlight this and to see if this was a known trend with car parts.

I have checked Michaels online shop for every part l bought and never used them, because they are consistently more expensive than other online shops. What's worse is the fact that they're also more expensive than most brick and mortar shops. So I pay extra for delivery to buy a more expensive part that now I have to wait for? The Irish have managed to make online shopping slow, inconvenient and expensive. That's quite and achievement.

    Agreed!

I priced a ignition coil from 'micheals online car hole'.

The site had QH branded ones priced 2 times more than my local bricks and mortar store, and they were stocking much better quality ( I would imagine) Bosch ones.
