i have a pc sitting here that the psu went in, getting a new one tomorrow.

specs

asrock h61m-dsg motherboard
celeron g550 2.6ghz
on board graphics
500gb hdd
no cd/dvd (not needed)

just wondering if anyone knows what intel hd series is the on board graphics?

also would it run any games? like counter strike or rust?

id rather not buy a low end graphics card to see no gain if the on board graphics will do for now.

plan on buying a new cpu and decent graphics card in a month or 2, is it worth it or should i just start from scratch?

GPU is basic Intel HD (with 6 execution units). Not quite the HD2000 (slightly better than HD).

I went to Game Debate site and checked your pc against a few games.
These are specs I've gave it:
CPU: Intel / Celeron G / Celeron G550 2.6GHz
GPU: Intel / HD Graphics / Intel HD Graphics 2000
RAM: 2Gb
Video: 1280 x 1024

NB: GD doesn't have "Intel HD" listed, so closet option is the 2000.

Your motherboard, Asrock h61m-dgs, is a LGA1155 board, which is grand. There's not much point in upgrading to LGA1150 (Haswell).

Suggest you get a decent graphics card first then upgrade the cpu later (if required). Look for something around the €150-250 mark. I'm sure the other boardsies would chime in on recommendation(s) for a good card.

Use the GD site to see how good the new graphics card would be for the games you want to play.

PS: what is the make/model of the PSU? - it may dictate what graphics card you can get.

I was hopeing the onboard might have been a bit better.

Would there be any point in buying a low end one? Say a silent geforce one? Think pc world has them under €40

should have mentioned the psu im getting is a friends and i will have to buy a better one.

No. The GeForce 210 is only a bit better than the HD. You'd be wasting money.

Anything under €60 is not going to be much better than the HD2000.

A few models to look at - under €100 budget :
(ordered by performance - low to high)

- Radeon HD 6770 (£55-£65)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 (£75+)
- Radeon HD R7770 (£75+)

You'd be better off ordering online as the prices are much cheaper than the shop/site you mentioned.

Thanks for the input, was planning on trying ebay, plan on spending around 150 on one, just tought a cheap one might get me by for a few weeks,

will it make a difference that my current moniter is non hd vga one?

Just an update, got a radeon 6770 cheap, and quite happy with it. Plays what i have on medium, some high.

Will upgrade it in a few months
