Hi All was brought out again hunting Deer yesterday, what an experience, I left my house at 1pm travelled to Dublin to meet my Uncle, transferred my gear to his van and off we went, drove for about an hour getting to the land he has permission on, my God it was cold, worked our way along a stone wall looking out on the hills about a thousand yards was a female and young juvenile to be honest I did not even see them till I was told "see the green patch look to the right about 3 o clock" and there they were, on we went walking along the wall, stopping every few minutes to use our binoculars, we spotted in the distance about 2 miles at least 70 Deer, consisting of Stags, Females and young Deer.

The wind was blowing around us, and I mentioned was this not working against us yes I was told in a way but at this stage they will not know we are here, I was told to look left as he pointed the low Sun in the sky, saying "they cant see us and he is right try looking into a low winters Sun, anyway weather was not great and where we were walking to was too open, he decided to come back about 5oo yards to a small wall that was in the middle of a field, with a forest about another 1000 yards to our right where the Sun was just on the tree line, we waited a bit longer him asking was I ok as it was bitterly cold, we were laying on reeds and granite rocks, he said to me give it 20 minutes they should be moving soon.

All of a sudden I got a tap on my shoulder, "Deer" 5 of them he took of the gloves caps of the scope and as that happened Deer ran by us all over the place scattering everywhere, he sighted one Female and bang, down she went about 80 yards away, not a stir from her, what a night, you would pay big money to be taught this, cleaning process began and I was asking loads of questions, all you could hear was me saying did you hear the thud from that 308 what a rifle, the Deer did not know it was dead, now the fun starts he said its a long way back to the van.

It was late when I got home last night as a Deer had to be hung to dry out he will of course put it into his cooler, due to get out again before the season is over what a teaser for the next season. I Hope you all don't mind the long story but I am over the Moon the full one from last night.:D:D:D.

aye its a great experience alright. I remember my first time out, we got in on a red spiker the guy handed me his 270 but I was afraid of wounding it, he shot it but I went with him the next week and I shot 2, I will never forget it.

I have everything the Licence Gun and now 1000 Acres, the Ruger has not been sighted in as the weather is too bad, hoping to head off to the Range tomorrow if the weather holds up, he was saying I can be signed in as a guest.

I have now secured over 1000 acres, to shoot and what a bonus Thanks for all the help.

We will be going out clearing paths this coming season, ensuring we can move between the sharp pines, without been seen.

    Thanks.
