Any chance that tree on the 18 in Ballinrobe went also!!

I think that's a great feature, makes you think twice about trying to reach the green in 2. Not sure why it's such a high index tho!

Moate GC has been very lucky in that we only lost one small tree and a couple of heavy branches off another larger one.

There would be a lot of happy golfers if it did!
I think it makes the hole a cracker...have only played there once, I probably skulled it along the ground past it, but I still think it makes for a cracking finish.

Played Bunclody today. It has plenty of trees down, some giants of ones too. None of the ones that fell affect the golf course too much. There are a couple down on the right hand side of the 11th but other than that its fine. The roof of the driving range is completely gone which is sad to see. I wonder will insurance cover it.

I drove in for a look today. Big trees down in the driveway. Quite a shock to see the roof torn off the driving range, but at least no trees down damaging the course.

There were a few huge ones down near the entrance alright. It was pretty dry too considering the rain. 20 euro with a member so good value too.

100+ trees down in dundrum. Was talking to a member and he said members were asked to help with the clean up.
Supposed to be very bad. I hope the trees in the middle of the fairway on the 10th and 14th survived.
Gonna head over tomorrow for a look.
Tipperary GC made it out relatively unscaved with a few trees down here and there but nothing big as far as I know.

Didn't make it to dundrum for a look today but was talking to a member who was there to help with some clean up and he said the count of trees down was closer to 300 :O

Don't think so, it was the Euro Tree of the Year nominee that came down iirc.

There is a tree in Frankfield GC in Cork on the 18th infront of the green where my ball is still stuck and you can see it sitting down, if that tree comes down im still on for Birdie :)

Yes, that's the one. I thought they said on the news it was the oldest in Ireland!

I'd be fairly certain that that tree is not the original and was only replaced about 7/8 years ago, it won't be an issue to replace that one either.

"Interesting" music to accompany the video!

Seems from The Limerick flyover that those trees blown down were recently planted, and the root network was not very extensive, or not developed enough to support the tree. Better planting, encouraging rootzone growth may have helped?

The last of the trees in Kilkenny GC has been removed yesterday, just large stumps remaining where a larger machine is coming in next week to clear.
Approx 250 trees lost with some very good strategic ones gone. On the upside, some poor condition ones gone too.

Not fixing Mulranny shouldn't even be considered. I've only played it once but for those that haven't played it it's very hard to imagine how such a small "nobody" course could be such a natural beaut. It genuinely has holes that wouldn't be out of place in Royal Portrush or Royal County Down.

If they ask for financial help I would contribute something without giving it a second thought.

I'm not implying I've give enough to fix it alone btw just that there would be enough like me out there to help IMHO.

I'm passing later today I'll stop for a look to see the damage first hand.

I was delighted to hear that my own club Strandhill are going to be organising a fund raiser for Mulranny.
Supposed to be in march but I don't think there is a date fixed yet. I can update when I hear more if anyone's interested.

This is exactly what I'd hoped might happen, clubs helping each other out.

Latest in from Kilkenny Golf Course, the final count of trees down is 353.
I heard the total cost of damage to the course is estimated at €200,000.
They are going to replace 100 trees by the end of March.

The final count of trees down in Dundrum is somewhere in the region of 350 got the actual number off a guy last night but cant remember.
A lot of damage done even one of the bridges crossing the river was badly damaged.

Thankfully no feature trees down but that is about the only positive that can be taken from it.

Onwards and upwards anyway. Hopefully this crippling damage cost doesnt have any long term effect on the club.

Kilkenny finally re-opening this Friday, thank God. Withdrawal symptoms taking over at this stage.
Can't wait for Sunday's medal but it will be sad to play a very different course, sort of surreal I suppose.

the big tree guarding the 13th green in Druids Heath was lost, for those who've played there it's the short dog leg right after the index 1.
