Remember when we had cmt europe, network 2 in the 90's used to broadcast hours of it.
With country so popular i find it strange that there is no channel dedicated to it, with all the crap channels that seem to survive surely there is a market for a country music channel.

I am not a country and western fan but my father is a classic country music fan and those stations that currently air country music from donegal etc the production values of those channels is just so bad it's not even funny and the music they show is just like amateur countryside farmers singing in a field. CMT was a real music station showing decent country music, there is a definite need for a channel showing proper country music.

Johnny Cash? Waylon Jennings? Gram Parsons? No, chances are it would be wee Daniel, Margo or some other godawful ersatz crap aimed at eighty somethings.

Well, the OP doesn't say anything about decent country music . . .

Ch 400 is full of warbling boggers in big hats. :pac: ;)

If their was a market there would be a station beyond the public access on the above, apart from a brief spell (USA Mullet country in the 90s) the UK is not a country and western kind of place and no one is going to set up a channel just for Ireland.

400,000 supposed country music fans going to see Garth Brooks. Surely they would all love it. Who am I kidding. A handful of them wouldn't be on the bandwagon.

There are channels for music that can be described as Country & Irish, new country, and what I term 'Irish boyband folk' (Mike Denver, Derek Ryan, some of what Nathan Carter does, etc. 'Songs' like 'On your wedding day' and 'God's plan'). The latter genre is a horrible one imo. But some people can't get enough of it.

But, there is no channel dealing with classic American country music from the 1920s onwards period. The Hot Country and Ireland West stations are almost all Irish country based.

Didn't the UK produce The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Lonnie Donegan, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Cliff Richard and many more like these. All these were the UK version of what was going on in US country music in the decades beforehand (including rockabilly).

The closest you'd get to the above named classic artists on this channel is a poor cover of 'Ring of fire'.
