The price doesn't look great. Same device here for $64 delivered.

For a little bit more you could get a OUYA from Amazon.

These sticks tend to come with awful ROMs on them so you'd really want to check some reviews and find one that has a decent custom rom available.

I got an MK802 about 18 months ago. It was well supported with ROMs and dedicated forums because it was pretty much the first of these sticks to come out. Found it really useful for Netflix and torrenting but it was just about worth the $70 I paid for it and it crapped out completely a couple of months ago.

All of these need a heatsink installed if you want it to last.

As groom says rom support is most important thing.

It's interesting that the iBood offer comes with USB/ethernet connection and mentions this in connection with streaming.

I have one of these Android PCs and all I really want to do with it is stream video from my media server to a TV in the bedroom and it's pretty rubbish at that to be honest.

I assume most have the same issue when trying to stream via wifi? I've adjusted the video quality (I use Plex) and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Now tv box is the job for plex. What device do you have and have you tried a custom rom. Obviously if your wifi signal is crap or you have a slow router it might neve be any good.

Whether or not (and how well) a device supports XBMC is the most important factor here.

With XBMC you've got a slick interface for matching media and you've got all the XBMC addons for streaming content e.g. Sportsdevil, 1channel, IrishTV etc

The OUYA is quad core so unless something better comes out in the next couple of months I'll be going for one of them

Ouya is the only job, I've one since last July, running on main tv perfect. Use yatse remote on my android phone to control it.

Didn't realise they were generally available now they were making stoopid money on ebay after kickstarter. Theres one on adverts at the moment for €90 if you sold on the controller it would be a make a very cheap powerful tv box. Also on ebay.de for around €106 delivered.

Do you use video repos on it e.g. Sportsdevil etc? How well do they run?

I have the Ouya, and I agree its a fantastic piece of kit, I particularly like the fact that side loading was easy and all the Add-Ons upload automatically.

After reading your post I'll be downloading the Yatse remote to my phone.

I have the Rikomagic MK802 running 4.0. The wifi and router are fine.

There are a boatload of alternative roms for those, and they really need a heatsink for hd video or you'll be getting blank screens and reboots. http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3876

The uhost firmware used to be good, people recommending the justop tv one now. I managed to get uberoid on the parents one but it wasn't straight forward.
