    Hi all,

I was advised by my hygienist to use this for one bottle only. I read though that it can cause staining.

Also, the hygienist said one bottle only but I read on the instructions that you should stop using it after two weeks so now I'm confused!

Does anyone have any feedback or experiences on using it?

i thought the selling point of kin was that it doesn't cause staining?
2 weeks won't cause much staining, and if it does, your hygienist will polish it away anyway.

    Thanks for the response!

It said on the insert in the box that it may cause staining but now that I think of it, it may have stated that its long term use that can cause staining.

I used it. No staining and my gums are in good nick now. I used the toothpaste alongside it.

I used it and got staining, probably due to tea drinking.

If it has the active ingredient "chlorhexidine" in it- then it is a very good antimicrobial rinse. I use it to temporarily keep wounds clean post op during healing. it is also good to get active gum disease under control.

Bad side is that anything containing chlorhexidine will facilitate staining. The rinse itself will not really stain, but it allows other substances such as tea coffee red wine smoke to adhere to the teeth big time....

So, if you have been advised to use this, don't have any food/drink/smoke that may stain around the time of use....

    Thanks for the responses!

Stupid question but I drink a lot of peppermint and green tea. Should I give them up while using the mouthwash?

You can, but it's superficial staining it will come off when you are getting your teeth cleaned anyways, so if get your teeth cleaned regularly I wouldn't worry too much

don't depend on the mouthwash though, you'll still need to brush and floss properly to mechanically break down the bacteria. too many people think that the mouthwash is the be all and end all and it's far from it.

Thanks for your replies everyone! I'll give up green tea and peppermint tea for the duration of the mouthwash treatment!

    Kin Gingival is quite expensive

Boots carry a range of Corsodyl Daily- alcohol free which is basically the same product.

500 mls is just under €6 and currently they are doing 3 for 2
that is 1500mls for under €12

My local pharmacy is charging €9 for 250 mls of Kin Gingival- that is €54 for 1500mls
