My neighbour sells a lot of turf and has asked me to deliver some loads for him and he was asking me how much an hour would I charge as he wants to pay me by the hour. What would be the going rate for a Mf 135 and 10x6 trailer thanks

for that size tractor and trailer something around €30 would be good. €5 of fuel(its too long since I measured how much a 35 uses, €5 would probably last for the day:D:D) €5 for upkeep, €5 for tyres/trailer, €10 for yourself and €5 for profit on top. how does that sound. I would be paying €45hr for 150hp tractor and 20ft trailer, just to give you an idea

€30 would be great if you were getting but who in their right mind would pay that.

How long is going to be spent loading and unloading presumably by hand? I'd think that €15 an hour would be loads considering it's for a neighbour.

But if he sells turf you might be only 1hr in all delivering it and 15 euro wouldn't be great in that case,in my experience if your too cheap people take you for granted.

I couldn't charge a neighbour for my time. If I did, id be allot better off I spose. You might need a hand yourself some day!
If you want to pass the price of the diesel onto him if you're at it all day fair enough. But if its just a few hours work For a good neighbour then I wouldn't dream of charging the man for man r machine.

He supplies diesel and you get 20 per hr, it would be about as good as you can get at the moment. its something like suckler farming (when you sit down and do the books it mightnt make a whole pile of sense)

How could you not charge him? If it was just going and collecting a load for your neighbour id prob say just do it, you'll be able i call on him for a hand some day, but in this case he is selling the turf and looking for a delivery man.
If he's selling it I'm sure he'll be adding on a delivery price wether you look for it or not, and I'm not trying to be unfair to anyone in saying that.

Id agree with bob really, often lads ask to give them a "price per load" but factors can vary way to much and make what you thought to be handy run into a nightmare and you come home scratching your head with nothing in your pocket... Price it per hour and it doesn't matter if it takes you an extra hour because its an awkward yard or you end up sitting at a locked gate waiting on someone "who'll be there in 2 minutes" to arrive, you'll still be getting paid
