We're looking for a dedicated banjo and/or mandolin player to join our Americana Project 'Wilde Ida'. We're a female led band based in Galway, looking for someone who loves and plays American Country, Bluegrass, Folk & Americana. We do originals, covers and classics. We also do harmonies, so if you can sing, thats a HUGE plus!

Influences: Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss, The Carter Family, Neko Case, Patty Griffin, The Civil Wars, Bonnie Raitt...you get the gist.

If this sounds like somethin' you've been looking for, then shoot me a PM, and I'll send you a link or two.

    Thanks!

I can't believe you still haven't found anyone. I would definitely go for it if I was a woman, played the banjo or mandolin, could sing, and lived anywhere near Galway :D.

Make sure to let us know when your first gig is up!

Thanks, Oink! The muso doesn't have to be a woman tho - maybe my post was misleading! No, no, Wilde Ida is both boys and girls! 2 girls and 2 boys in the band so far, with an extra lad on double bass too (in case our first string can't do the gigs!)

Still looking, also need to double up in lead guitar and fiddle for gigs the rest can't make, as everyone in Wilde Ida are working musicians.

Thanks again, we'll let you know about any gigs for sure!

Aaaaand bump. I really should write something more interesting than bump. Hmmm. "Nudge"? Also did I mention we really could use another lead guitarist?

Hi Sounds like an interesting thing you've got going there! I can't believe you're still looking! I'm a reasonable mid shelf guitar player/ rythm and lead and ok singer, well into country rock -Steve Earle, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, The Eagles and have been writing songs from country, bluegrass, to blues and rock. Gigged for about ten years then went into hibernation and have just been recording for fun the last while, so I'd be rusty. Acoustic or electric -doesn't matter to me, and I do have a mandolin, just need to learn how to play it properly... I can send you a link to the stuff i've been recording to give you an idea if you want Thanks
