Short on silage and finding it hard to get reasonable stuff at reasonable price.

Have been offered arable silage in wraps its oat and grass.

Has anyone any experience using this on dry cows and yearlong bulls and heifers?

depending on the amount of straw before cutting it could be good stuff. Oats are an idea feed for dry cows and weanlings

Was wrapping dry grass silage here last summer and had arable (barley) silage mowed down for pit silage on the same day. Baler had half a bale of grass in the baler when he was finished, so I told him to finish the bale off in the arable.

Anyway came across this HEAVY bale last week, cows went absolutely mad for the grass in the middle of the arable silage, but ate it all.

I'd suggest buy one and see will they eat it, but it's not fit for milking cows IMO

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

We baled it here a few times. Not interested in baling it again tbh too messy. Ye end up using the bsle because you have opened it.
Might try get some whole crop wheat this year.
How much an acre would ye pay? And if I wanted to feed milkers 4kg a day for 4 months how many acres would I need.
    Sorry for hijacking.

4kgs of wholecrop is shag all really, You would want much higher levels that that to make a difference, otherwise stick with silage

Well I may get them something. The winter diet was **** this year and I have the diet feeder so I may as well use it properly. How many KGS would they eat?
