What kind of beetle?

I'm just getting around to cutting up an ash tree that came down in a storm in 2008. It was around a hundred years old. It had rotted on the inside and was quite hollow. While splitting some of the pieces I came across these beetles. They are about 1cm long and didn't really move when I discovered them. Has anyone any idea what they are? Is it a bad idea to put the wood into my wood shed to season in case they infect/eat the rest of the wood?

Looks like a lesser stag beetle Dorcus parallelipipedus
It just eats dead wood and will have an insignificant effect on your dead timber.
