Best travel watch advice

Afternoon lads and ladies,

I have put a few posts on here in the past in relation to high end watches (what I would call them anyway) and have received great advice so here I am again.

I am going inter-railing for a month around eastern Europe and want to have a watch for the trip. I want to avoid anything fancy so I don't get a knife pulled on me for it but I don't want to through money away on something never to use it again.

I looked at Suunto and garmin watches as I owuld use the HRM monitor for training after the trip however I can't be sure I can charge them everyday.

So I am looking for a nice looking watch, that wont be a target, with an alarm and maybe even a few timezones or gizmos.

Hoping to uncover a gem.

A Casio Edifice - there's a few varieties, climbing the cost scale, but essentially you can get solar powered, time zones and radio controlled (ie always sets itself to the right time), with alarm, stop watch etc: eg Casio EQW-M600DB

Cheers guys especially Mredsnapper, the watch looks good but a bit busy for me, also I will need to order mine from the net with postage etc as I don't live in Ireland anymore.

Frustrated as I know if I dont like the watch I will never wear it again. I have been saving to buy an omega/rolex but there is no way i would bring that inter railing.

To be honest based on what you say you might be better spending as little as you possibly can.

Casio F-91W for the retro win (about a tenner on amazon - you can even get a load of different colours for buttons).

Thats a good call, even the metal version seems great value. Just hope I don't go through too many timezones

you can get plenty of timezone friendly watches - that will update based on the radio-transmitted time signals.
i got a casio g-shock recently that solar powered too, for €100 total (awg-m100b-1aer) from amazon.

went all around South America with one of these never missed a beat apart from badge snobbery I cant see any reason to get a more expensive watch if you lose or break it no problem your not out much

I'd echo the other guys, a Casio is your only man. One of our fellows hereabouts, ex military chappie, carted his all over active duty in the Lebanon back in the day and it didn't miss a beat.

^^ what Alanstrainor says. Basically the new updated original design of the G-Shock. Damn near bulletproof those yokes. Nice and light on the wrist so no worries with moving about in hot climates, will take a lickin and keep on tickin(or buzzin).
