Washer drier - no outlet to outside ?

    Hi,

Have a washer drier in my apartment. I am suspicious of the drying. I set it to 40 minutes of drying but the clothes are still strangely wet ... hot but wet.

I went outside to look up at the wall where the washer/drier is (on 2nd floor) and there is no outlet whatsoever. None anywhere near.

How does it dry ? where does the moisture-steam go ?

    Thanks.

Check if it's a condenser dryer. They capture the water in a container that you have to empty every two or three goes.

If the container gets full though the dryer should turn off so that's probably not the problem. Worth checking though.

Do you have the manual for it?

Is there a tray fills with water that has to be emptied?
I think you need around 2 hours to dry stuff, at least on the ones I've used you do.

A washer/dryer has no water collection tray, the water is pumped out via the emptying pump, with w/dryers you need to reduce the wash load to allow for expansion as the clothes dry out, the length of time you are allowing is too short for bone dry as the last ten minutes is cold air for cool down of element etc, also its not advised to stop machine during drying time as this causes the stats to blow

Thanks for that. So I need to leave clothes in for an hour ? I have been concerned about the energy cost :(

I found the online PDF of the Manual (Zanussi W1042W Washer Dryer) and it confirms what is said here ... it is piped into the water system. However it also says that the taps need to be on when drying ...... is this possible ? that sounds odd to me

yeah, it needs water for drying, it actually sprays a fine film of water onto the steam to condense it back to water and pumps out about every 2 minutes approx.

mmm... So .... What do I do ? run the cold water at a trickle for an hour ? full flow ?

is your w/m not connected permanently to cold water,? the machine needs water connected during the full programme at full pressure

I hope you're not thinking of running the kitchen taps? I'd imagine the flow needs to be left on to the machine, and normally it would be on.

It's all plumbed in behind the unit and kitchen units. I don't see any pipes anywhere.......yes I thought it was the kitchen sink taps you were talking about
